Aristoi Counseling Program Mission and Vision:

Comprehensive School Counseling Program:

Aristoi follows the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs.  It is an organized approach that utilizes the national standards as well as the state curriculum to integrate academics and social emotional learning for all students.  Certified school counselors adhere to this delivery model to deliver services to all students.  The program consists of four areas.  These are Guidance Curriculum, Individual Planning, Individual Services, and System Support.  The program provides structure for the teachers, staff, students, and parents to all work together for the well-being of the students. https://tea.texas.gov/sites/default/files/Pub_2018_Texas-Model_5th-Edition.pdf

Counselor Role and Philosophy Statement:

My role as a school counselor is to facilitate the integration of academic and social emotional learning for all students.  My philosophy of school counseling is that all students deserve the necessary support and guidance to achieve academic, career, and emotional success.  This is achieved by delivering services individually, in small groups, and to classes regarding social emotional and academic well-being.  I favor solution-focused or cognitive behavioral techniques to help students become successful problem solvers in their own lives.

Comprehensive Guidance Curriculum:

Aristoi Classical Academy is in the process of creating guidance curriculum that follows the classical education model and integrates with the virtues taught as part of the current curriculum.  In the meantime, we pull from several sources including a specific needs assessment sent to teachers. This informs the direction of the curriculum lessons and helps to ensure the necessary topics are covered.  In addition, resources are posted on the Counseling page and can be found here:

State of Texas and ASCA Standards:

School counselors in Texas follow two different sets of standards.  The American School Counselor Association sets forth standards and aptitudes that counselors must adhere to and possess in order to be successful.  The complete list can be found here:

The state of Texas has published the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs, which is found here https://tea.texas.gov/sites/default/files/Pub_2018_Texas-Model_5th-Edition.pdf.  This document outlines all of the necessary components to a school counseling program in Texas and is aligned with the state curriculum.

Career/Graduation Requirement Resources:

Graduation can be both exciting and scary at the same time.  It is necessary to plan in advance with respect to classes taken so that students are able to achieve post-secondary goals after graduation. Below are three resources to help ensure students choose the right high school classes and stay on track to reach their goals.
